Who is Lorenzo Traversa and the Farm Nursery?
My name is Lorenzo Traversa and I was born and raised in the province of Cuneo, in the hills of the Langhe region, where the Tonda Gentile hazelnut variety (syn. Tonda Gentile delle Langhe and/or Tonda Gentile trilobata), considered the best variety in the world for its organoleptic characteristics, casually originated.
My technical studies and direct involvement in cultivation have allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the subject by constantly applying myself to the search for every single detail or shrewdness to improve the cultivation result.
The extremely poor reality of the Alta Langa economy in the 1940s and 1950s, when interest in hazelnut cultivation began, meant that it occupied marginal land and it was customary to plant a row of hazelnut trees at the edge of plots of land so as not to subtract land from meadows and cereal cultivation. Over the years, farmers realised the much greater profitability of such cultivation and, pushed by the Ferrero company of Alba, little by little, plantings were made in the best plots until they occupied almost all the land, thus giving an important economic boost to the area.
